                  To cut to the chase - regular, paraffin candles are killing you.

We get it, it’s easy to fall victim to the allure of a candle, it’s illuminating warmth and scent-tingling fragrance are very satisfying qualities. However, the reality is, most candles on the market are created by people who are prioritising profit margins over the health of their customers. You’re thinking ‘if i pay more will it be better quality?’ the answer sadly is no. Most luxury candle companies also use toxic paraffin wax and fragrance oils. At Bean & Gone we are passionate about using soy-based candles and fragrance oils that won’t harm you when burnt.


Why are paraffin candles bad?


Paraffin candles are made from petroleum (also known as crude oil) and release toxic chemicals when burnt including formaldehyde and particulates that, breathed deep into your lungs can cause irreparable damage and have carcinogenic properties. Most regular candles use fragrances that contain harmful additives like parabens, phytates and other synthetic chemicals like petroleum that are breathed in when the candle is burnt. The safety of candle fragrance oils is also pretty unregulated. Many don’t comply with the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) meaning they don’t have to meet strict safety standards for consumer use.
 

Our candles are made of 100% organic soy wax and fragrance oils contain no harmful additives like parabens, phytates and other synthetic chemicals meaning they have a much cleaner burn than regular candles. Our fragrance oils are also free of these ingredients and comply with the International Fragrance Association (IFRA)’s strict safety standards for consumer use. And we offer a refill service.
